The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce presents the State of Women in Business – proudly sponsored by Denver7 – on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm.

After decades of progress, women in business are experiencing a significant setback regarding gender equality in the workplace due to COVID-19. At the height of their career or as a business owner, women are often burdened with increased responsibilities, both at work and at home. Women often take on more work without extra pay, serve in roles with fewer protections, and manage childcare and schooling responsibilities. Because of this, women are leaving the workforce – partly or completely. The labor force participation rate for women with kids fell from 79.8% to 71.8% from February to July in Colorado.

Women in business have come a long way, but as these statistics and this event recognize, there is still work to be done.

This year’s State of Women in Business event will look at data showing the staggering impact this pandemic has had and will continue to have on women in business, as well as what recovery looks like. The event will feature a panel moderated by Rep. Leslie Herod (Colorado House of Representatives, District 8) and including Debbie Brown, Colorado Business Roundtable; Kristin Strohm, Common Sense Institute; Monicque Aragon, Colorado Department of Labor; and Virginia Santy, Women in Kind and S&V Partners.

State of Women in Business is free, virtual and open to all. Click here to register for the event.
