HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Denver7 is proud to partner with Rachel's Challenge to show you how the program is encouraging students to replace bullying and violence with kindness and respect in schools.

The program is a multi-year commitment for most schools, Ben Franklin Academy in Highlands Ranch being one of them. They began the second year of their program earlier this week.

The students at Ben Franklin learned about Rachel’s legacy this year.  The program encourages them to reflect on their relationship with -– and impact on –- the people around them while giving them permission to start their own chain reaction of kindness and compassion. The program also leads students to consider where they are in relation to the Five Challenges of Rachel’s Challenge:

  • Look for the best in others
  • Dream big
  • Choose positive influences
  • Speak with kindness
  • Start your own chain reaction

Rachel’s Challenge offers different programs, so it’s rare that a student will have the same experience more than once. Some high schools have even broken out the program so that every year a student is on campus they are met with a different program involving Rachel’s Challenge.
