If you’ve had to help your children with remote learning during this unprecedented time, it’s likely you have a whole new level of gratitude for teachers in our state. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8, 2020, and to celebrate, Denver7 wants to encourage you thank a teacher who has inspired you by nominating them to apply for the 2021 Colorado Teacher of the Year.

Every year, the Colorado Teacher of the Year program honors an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled K-12 classroom teacher to represent the entire profession in the state. The selected teacher will automatically become Colorado's nominee for the National Teacher of the Year competition. The national program is a project of the Council of Chief State School Officers. Visit the National Teacher of the Year program webpage for more information.

Denver7 is proud to support the 2021 Colorado Teacher of the Year program. Nominations can be submitted any time between now and early July. You can learn more and nominate your favorite teacher(s) on the Colorado Department of Education’s website. The winner will be announced in October.

COVID-19 has made it even more clear that Colorado teachers are amazing. Teachers have adapted to challenges and have continued to teach while we all stay home. Nominate your favorite teacher for Colorado Teacher of the Year today, and spread the love to your teachers by participating in #ThankATeacherCO during Teacher Appreciation Week.
