One of the things that makes Colorado great is our philanthropic spirit. Denver7 is proud to support that spirit as a sponsor of Colorado Gives Day, one of the largest giving days in the county.

For the tenth consecutive year, Community First Foundation and FirstBank are partnering to present Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Colorado Gives Day, a statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving, has raised $217 million for Colorado nonprofits since 2010.

“Colorado Gives Day is a really important day for Colorado nonprofits. For many, it has become their primary annual fundraising effort or is a critical piece of their end-of-year efforts.” said Kelly Dunkin, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Nonprofits work hard to solve some of Colorado’s biggest challenges and they improve our quality of life every day. This is the day to support them and show them that we are committed to keeping Colorado the great place it is.”

Colorado Gives Day is among the most successful giving days in the nation. Last year alone, more than 160,000 individuals made donations to 2,547 nonprofits totaling $35.3 million.

“FirstBank has been a partner of Colorado Gives Day since its inception 10 years ago, and we never envisioned that it would grow to be the tour-de-force online giving movement it is today,” said Brian Larson, Regional President of FirstBank. “Thousands of nonprofits have benefited from Colorado Gives Day, and that’s made a positive impact on countless children, animals, individuals and causes. In fact, if every Colorado resident gave just $10, more than $56 million would be raised, and we could collectively solve a lot of problems.”

Donors can search for local charities by region, cause or keyword and they can support multiple nonprofits through one transaction. They can also schedule their donation today so they don’t forget.

“The holidays get really busy and people may be busy traveling or visiting family and friends,” explains Dunkin. “So starting Nov. 1, people can visit to our website, select all their favorite nonprofits and during checkout choose the ‘schedule for Colorado Gives Day’ option. The donor will not be charged until Colorado Gives Day, so it’s like autopay but for Colorado Gives Day!”
