FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots ProShop is offering a free jersey exchange for anyone with Hernandez's number 81.
Aaron Hernandez was arrested on Wednesday and charged with murdering a friend after an argument at a nightclub. Shortly after Hernandez was arrested, the Patriots cut him from the team.
“We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore,” said New England Patriots spokesman Stacey James in a posting on their site. James added that he hopes this opportunity the pro shop is offering will please parents.
The New England Patriots say the jersey has to have been purchased at the pro-shop or at PatriotsProShop.com and must be exchanged for one of comparable value. This offer is only available the weekend of Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 at the Patriots ProShop at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
