Weather Channel interns work through simulated tornado controlled by tweets during Tornado Week

Wind speed inside office controlled by Tweets

Interns at The Weather Channel are working through a simulated tornado controlled by tweets and you can watch them live on YouTube.

During Tornado Week, a rotating group of interns are tweeting from inside an office with fans blowing at more than 100 miles per hour.

Every public mention of the hashtag #TornadoWeek on Twitter boosts the wind.

If the hashtag gets one million mentions, the interns will experience 200 mph winds -- the equivalent of an EF-5 tornado.

The effective wind speed in the studio at 7:30 a.m. MT Wednesday was 125 mph, after more than 29,000 twitter mentions.

You can also chat with the interns using the @TornadoWeek handle and watch their reaction in real time.
