Suspect arrested in Thornton bar shooting that left one person seriously injured

Victim hospitalized with serious injuries

THORNTON, Colo. - A Denver man was arrested in connection with the shooting at a bar in Thornton early Sunday morning.

Mario Oliveros, 38, was taken to the Adams County Detention Facility, Thornton police said Monday.

The shooting victim, 45-year-old man, was still hospitalized with serious injuries Monday, police said.

Police said there was an altercation inside Chamucos Bar and Grill at 8651 Washington Street around 1:30 a.m.

Three men and two women were being escorted out of the bar when one person turned and fired shots into the bar, Sergeant Matt Kandt said.

7NEWS visited the area while police were investigating. Our photographer saw several evidence markers in the parking lot outside and at least three bullet holes in the establishment's glass front door.

Police said their investigation led them to arrest Oliveros at a home on Gale Boulevard, near Thornton Parkway and Huron Street Sunday.
