THORNTON, Colo. - Shots were fired into a Thornton bar overnight, seriously injuring one person inside.
Around 1:30 a.m., three men and two women were leaving Chamucos Bar and Grill at 8651 Washington Street when one of them turned and fired shots into the bar from outside. Thornton Police said a 40-year-old man was hit and is being treated at a hospital for injuries that are potentially life-threatening.
7NEWS visited the area while police were investigating. Our photographer saw several evidence markers in the parking lot outside and at least three bullet holes in the establishment's glass front door.
Sergeant Matt Kandt said investigators learned the shooting followed an altercation inside the bar. As the group was escorted out, one person turned and fired the shots.
Although the suspected gunman hasn't been identified, Kandt said officers figured out who it was and served a search warrant in the 9100 block of Gale Blvd. There, one man was taken into custody.
