GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. - It's just one rock, but it was big enough to close a lane in Glenwood Canyon Monday.
A rock the size of a SUV fell onto Interstate 70 westbound, about two miles west of the Hanging Lake Tunnel at mile marker 122.9. The rock fell around 6 a.m.
The rock was so big, crews had to break it up to haul it away. The right westbound lane was closed while crews worked on the rock, then repaired the road damage.
Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Mike Murray said no one was injured when the rock fell on the highway.
There were intermittent closures on I-70 while the rock was removed and the road was patched.
