Police search for suspect in fatal Littleton shooting; residents near scene urged to stay indoors

Cops searched 500 block of W. Peakview Avenue

LITTLETON, Colo. - Authorities in Littleton said they were searching for a shooting suspect Wednesday night and asked  residents near the 500 block of W. Peakview Avenue to remains indoors.

The shooting was reported at 8:05 p.m., according police.

Two males were involved in the shooting and one suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital where he later died.

It's unclear what the nature of the relationship is between the males, but witnesses said the shooting suspect ran off with the gun in his hand.

Police are searching for a white male, 5-feet 10-inches, weighing 200 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeve black T-shirt.  The suspect was last seen running from the area towards South Broadway.

The police believe the suspect knew the victim, and do not believe the public is in danger. At 10:45 p.m. police said that West Peakview Avenue will remain closed for the next several hours while the investigation continues.

Officers are also using K-9 units to search for the armed suspect.
