Online petition wants diploma for Claire Davis after Arapahoe High School shooting

CENTENNIAL, Colo. - An online petition drive is asking Littleton Public Schools to give Arapahoe High School shooting victim Claire Davis a diploma at graduation in May.

"Letting Claire Davis get the diploma that she deserves, True Warriors stick together," the online petition reads. "It'd mean a lot to help spread the word & have more people agree with the students of AHS."

Claire, 17, was a senior at Arapahoe High School when she was shot by a classmate on Dec. 13. She died eight days later.

7NEWS called Littleton Public Schools to ask if they would give Claire's family her diploma, but the district is closed for winter break.

After the Columbine High School shooting in April 1999, the names of two seniors who died in the rampage were read at graduation. The Denver Post reported that two of Lauren Townsend's older brothers and an older sister accepted Lauren's diploma as she was named a valedictorian. Isaiah Shoels' name was read, but his family did not attend.
