Man accused of hitting woman because of her race charged with bias-motivated crime

DENVER - A man accused of hitting a woman because of her race is now charged with bias-motivated crime and assault.

Christopher Roman Lucki, 34, is accused of hitting a 44-year-old woman who was waiting outside 16th and Court streets in Denver on Aug. 28.

Lucki was originally charged with a city ordinance violation of assault and disturbing the peace.

But after further review, Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey added the charge of bias-motivated crime.

Lucki remains in custody in the Denver Detention Center; his bond is set at $25,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 2100 on Oct. 17, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges.
