Friday marks Leann 'Annie' Meyer's birthday; the Wheat Ridge woman is still missing

Police want to talk to Meyer's roommate

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - Today is Leann "Annie" Meyer's birthday and friends and family have no idea where she is.

Meyer, now 52, disappeared at least 11 days ago. She spoke to a friend on the phone Feb. 23.  Police said a text message came from her phone to her employer on Feb. 25. However, she has not been seen or heard from since then.

Police searched Meyer's home for the third time on Thursday. Meyer's friends will be searching in her neighborhood on Saturday. They plan to pass out fliers and drive routes Meyer might have driven.

Investigators want to question Meyer's roommate, Melissa Miller, but Wheat Ridge Police Cmdr. Dave Pickett said the woman has not been very cooperative.

"We haven't learned much from the roommate," said Pickett. "We've talked to her a couple of times on the phone, and would really like to speak to her in person."

Miller has not been home since March 4, police said.

Police said Miller told them on the phone Meyer left with a woman named Cathy, but Joecken said none of Meyer's friends have heard of anyone named Cathy.

Police received a tip that someone may have seen Meyer in Yuma, Colo. Pickett said that tip has not been substantiated. However, Yuma police are showing Meyer's picture around the area, to see if anyone else recognizes her.

"We are desperate to find Annie," said Luann Joecken, one of Meyer's best friends. "All of her other friends are reaching out to each other. 'What can we do? What can we do?' For Melissa not to have reached out to anybody is really strange."

Meyer's supervisor at US Bank tells 7NEWS that Melissa called her work to say that Annie would not be coming in for a while.

"We're concerned because we have absolutely no idea what's happened," said Pickett.

"Her [Meyer's] employer said she was very reliable and she didn't show up for work, and now we can't find her at her house. Her cell phone's not taking calls and both of her vehicles are missing," Pickett added.

Meyer's missing vehicles are a 2009 Silver Toyota Rav4 bearing Colorado license plate 975 YUH and a 1995 Silver Toyota pickup with Colorado license plate 688 DJH.

Friends describe Meyer as a long-time Wheat Ridge resident who loves camping, golf and softball.

"She's a great person, one of the greatest I've ever met -- a true friend," said Joecken.

Meyer is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has blue eyes and gray-brown hair.

Anyone with information about Meyer is asked to call the Wheat Ridge Police Department at 303-237-2220.
