Facebook page tries to reunite families with pets lost & found in Black Forest Fire

BLACK FOREST, Colo. - A new Facebook page is trying to help Black Forest Fire evacuees and residents find their lost pets.

Since the page was created last Wednesday, dozens of people have posted photos of their lost cats, dogs, horses and goats.

"I live in Elizabeth and when the smoke started coming in I think she may have gotten lost," said Ashley Repka wrote about her missing cat.

Others have posted pictures of animals and pets they have found including a green and yellow parakeet.

"Found parakeet please text 719-___-____ to claim," wrote a person in Castle Rock.

Some of the animals that have been found were hurt in the fire.

"The cat was found with singed fur and left behind soot paw prints when walking. We took the kitty in, and it is currently being housed in the break room at work," one woman wrote.

More than 3,000 people have liked the page.
