Denver police detain road-rage suspect with 'self-inflicted' gunshot wound to hand

Incident began as road rage involving 2 cars

DENVER - Denver police say officers arriving at a road rage incident found a suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand on Monday afternoon.

Denver Police said via Twitter that they were investigating a road rage incident involving two cars near South Bannock Street and West Warren Avenue just before 2 p.m.

According to police radio traffic, dispatchers also received several 911 calls from people in the area reporting shots and someone spotted with a gun.

Police soon tweeted that they had a  "road rage suspect" in custody with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand.

A photo taken at the scene by 7NEWS photojournalist Brad Bogott showed that police had placed at least a dozen yellow evidence markers around a white sport utility vehicle.
