DENVER - The 8-year-old boy critically injured in a drive-by shooting Monday is improving.
The boy, Jacob Valdivia, has been upgraded from critical condition to serious condition, according to Denver Health.
Police said the boy was riding in the back seat of a Jeep on Monday near Sixth Avenue and Knox Court when shots were fired from a passing car about 6:30 p.m.
Jacob was hit in the back, police said.
The Jeep's driver kept going about four blocks and then pulled into a 7-Eleven at Sixth and Federal Boulevard. Police were called there. The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The boy's mother and a male friend were also in the Jeep. They were not hurt, police said.
Officers said they are looking for two Hispanic male suspects that were in a white car, but they have not released any other details.
Police said the gang unit is investigating the case.
