DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - The Douglas County bomb squad was called out to investigate a suspicious suitcase that turned out to be empty on Tuesday.

A utility worker saw the suitcase just before 10 a.m. and the bomb squad was called as a precaution, said Karen McGrath, spokesperson for the Castle Rock Police Department.

An officer at the scene told 7NEWS that the suitcase was at a pump house visible from Castle Oaks Drive.

Officials used an X-ray machine to look inside, but it was inconclusive. Officials sprayed the suitcase with a water cannon to render it safe.

When the bomb squad opened the suitcase, they found nothing inside.
