DENVER, Colo. - It's not everyday you pull into a gas station and witness a police takedown but that's what happened Friday afternoon to our 7NEWS crew.
Reporter Lance Hernandez and photographer Jim Weis were filling up their news truck at the Conoco station at 6th Avenue and Santa Fe Boulevard when a swarm of undercover officers drove up in several vehicles with their guns drawn.
The officers circled a red Subaru and yelled at the male driver and female passenger to get out of the car. The driver refused to come out of the car at first but he was eventually shocked with a Taser gun and taken into custody.
7NEWS learned from the East Metro Auto Theft Task Force that the vehicle had been stolen in Arapahoe County earlier Friday and officers had followed the Subaru to the gas station.
A task force spokesman said the suspect was wanted on two no-bond warrants. However, he did not elaborate on the nature of the warrants, nor did he identify the suspect.
