FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Firefighters were able to get another new grass fire in Fort Collins contained in about 40 minutes Monday morning.
The fire was first reported around 10 a.m. and moved rapidly through short grass on the northwest side of the Cathy Fromme Prairie Natural Area, said Poudre Fire Authority spokesman Patrick Love. The nearest intersection was Taft Hill Road and Harmony Road.
Love said a quick stop in the wind helped firefighters contain the fire by about 10:40 a.m. Had the wind not stopped, the fire might have continued moving south toward a neighborhood.
Firefighters from Loveland also assisted in containing this fire, Love said.
The final size of the fire was estimated between three and four acres.
