DU students warned after possible date rape drug incident

DENVER - Two DU students may have been slipped date rape drugs while bar hopping Sunday, the Campus Safety Department says.

Sgt. Stephen Banet reports that the two women went out together to several establishments on South University Boulevard. Along the way, somehow, the women got separated.

One of them woke up several hours later in an academic building on the campus. The other girl awoke elsewhere.

Banet said the women can't pinpoint where they may have consumed the date rape drug, but neither believes they were actually assaulted.

The campus issued a crime notice to students with reminders they shouldn't accept drinks from strangers or leave drinks unattended.

"It's really creepy.  I don't know, something you don't expect to happen," said student Kari Throm.

Denver Police confirmed to 7NEWS officers were investigating a possible third case, but officers closed it according to spokeswoman Racquel Lopez.

The last time an incident like this was reported on campus, Banet said, was at least six months ago.
