DENVER - Denver police say initial reports that a white Volvo was involved in the shooting of an 8-year-old boy in a Jeep may have been incorrect.
A police spokesman now says officers are looking for a "white car," and are not being more specific about the brand or model.
An 8-year-old boy was riding in the backseat of a Jeep Monday about 6:30 p.m. near Sixth Avenue and Knox Court when the Jeep was hit by gunfire.
The boy was hit in the back and was scheduled to have surgery Tuesday. He was listed in critical condition.
The Jeep's driver kept going about four blocks and then pulled into a 7-Eleven at Sixth and Federal Boulevard. Police were called there, 7NEWS' Marc Stewart reported from the scene. The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The boy's mother and a male friend were also in the Jeep, they were not hurt, police said.
Officers said they are looking for two Hispanic male suspects that were in the white car, but they have not released any other details.
Police said the gang unit is investigating the case.
