DENVER - Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, plan to tour Colorado's flood damage Monday.
The White House announced the plans for the tour, but said all other details of the visit "are forthcoming."
The flooding began with torrential rain storms on the night of Wednesday, Sept. 11. The rushing torrents of water have impacted 17 total counties, mostly along the Front Range.
The Colorado Office of Emergency Management reports six confirmed deaths related to the disaster, but others are missing and presumed dead.
The population currently under mandatory evacuation orders is 18,147, but there are reports of many people who have elected to remain in their homes. The Larimer County Sheriff, for example, reports that approximately one-third the population of Storm Mountain decided to stay and many are working on creating a temporary road into that community.
