Flood victims warned to be cautious of alleged price-gouging

Some flood victims say they're getting hung out to dry as they try to clean up their homes.
One Longmont resident tells 7NEWS a septic company nearly doubled its normal rates and the city confirms it is investigating a report of a contractor inflating lumber costs.
General Contractor Bob McHugh says one of the best things you can do is check references.
"To take advantage of somebody when they're down, it just is not right with the human spirit," he said.
As the river continues to recede from the peak of the flooding, Longmont is warning residents to exercise common sense. Customers should also always ask for quotes in writing.
