Your 24/7 NOWCAST: Happy 4th of July! It's a cool evening with current temperatures in the low 60s. Thunderstorms are developing west of Fort Collins and will be moving through northern Colorado this evening. The metro area is also experiencing some rain, with the heaviest storms to the south over Douglas and Elbert Counties. Scattered thunderstorms will continue through most of the evening. Make sure to bring an umbrella if you're going to watch fireworks tonight.
Your 24/7 Synopsis: Thunderstorms will remain in the forecast through the holiday weekend, with some storms possibly becoming severe. Large hail and heavy rain will be the primary threats. Hot and dry weather returns to the forecast early next week.
METRO DENVER:Independence Day: Mostly cloudy tonight with scattered thunderstorms, clearing overnight. Lows in the upper 50s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s.
Monday: Partly cloudy and dry with highs in the upper 80s.
NORTHEASTERN PLAINS:Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies with thunderstorms, some possibly severe. Lows in the upper 50s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s.
Monday: Mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 90s.
MOUNTAINS:Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies with thunderstorms. Heavy rain likely. Lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy skies with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s.
Monday: Partly cloudy skies with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Highs in the 60s and 70s.
WESTERN SLOPE:Tonight: Partly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms and lows in the 50s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with a chance for thunderstoms in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 90s.
Monday: Mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 90s.

Temperatures will remain in the 80s for the holiday weekend with a chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms each day. Early next week will be a little warmer and drier once again. Expect highs in the low to mid 90s for most of next week with partly cloudy skies.
