How windy is it?

While winds are calm over much of the Denver metro area, in the mountains and foothills, wind gusts over 70 miles per hour are being reported.

The National Weather Service issued a list of 12-Hour Peak Wind Observations at 6:15 a.m. Friday. The strongest gust the NWS reported was 71 mph at Downieville on I-70 and 70 mph on Berthoud Pass.

  • Floyd Hill, 58 mph
  • Glen Haven, 56 mph
  • Allenspark, 54 mph
  • Rocky Flats, 53 mph
  • Loveland Pass, 51 mph
  • Nederland, 48 mph
  • Red Feather Lakes, 48 mph
  • Genesee, 46 mph
  • Georgetown, 44 mph
  • Estes Park, 39 mph
  • Kenosha Pass, 39 mph
  • Copper Mountain, 38 mph

Denver7 traffic reporter Jayson Luber has seen wind gusts over 100 mph in the South Park area and a wind gust of 86 mph on Pikes Peak.
