The National Weather Service issued several storm alerts and warnings on Wednesday morning.
Winter Storm Warnings
The most serious alerts are two Winter Storm Warnings. The first warns of heavy snow from Castle Rock to Fort Collins.
The warning goes into effect at 2 p.m. on Wednesday through 11 a.m. on Thursday.
The warning area includes Denver, Jefferson, Boulder, Douglas, Broomfield, Larimer, Weld, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties.
The National Weather Service is predicting six to 10 inches of snow in that area, with possibly up to 14 inches in and near the foothills.
The second Winter Storm Warning is for the mountains and says that area could see one to two feet of snow.
Winter Storm Watch
There is a Winter Storm Watch for Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Wet Mountains, Teller County and Rampart Range.
That area is expected to see 10 to 20 inches of snow and 20 to 30 mph winds gusting to 50 mph in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Pikes Peak.
Winter Weather Advisories
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Saguache County, the Rio Grande Valley and San Juan Mountains for five to nine inches of snow with possibly higher amounts.
"Travel will be hazardous due to the snow," the National Weather Service said.
There is also a Winter Weather Advisory for Leadville, Lake County and Chaffee County.
The National Weather Service says that area could get six to 12 inches of snow.
Hazardous Weather Outlook
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of the Eastern Plains, Southeastern Colorado and part of Western Colorado.
The Eastern Plains could see two to four inches, according to Denver7 meteorologist Lisa Hidalgo.
