Your 24/7 Synopsis:
A cold front moved through overnight and brought severe storms to the plains and strong winds to the metro area. The front will swing south and temperatures today will drop a good 10 to 15 degrees from Wednesday. The weather will remain unsettled through the first half of the weekend with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Your 24/7 Nowcast
Increasing clouds with scattered showers over the foothills and snow in the mountains above 10,000 feet. Strong thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, with hail and heavy rain possible. We're now in the mid 50s to upper 50s.

DENVER:
Today: Partly cloudy and cooler with afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 60s to low 70s, lows in the upper 40s and low 50s.
Friday: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the low 70s, overnight lows in the upper 40s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy skies with a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms. Highs in the 70s, lows in the upper 40s.

EASTERN PLAINS:
Today: Becoming windy with scattered afternoon thunderstorms, some storms may be severe. A little cooler with highs in the 70s and low 80s, lows in the 40s and 50s.
Friday: Partly cloudy and seasonal with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s, lows in the upper 40s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy and mild with a slight chance for thunderstorms. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 40s.

MOUNTAINS:
Today: Cooler with showers and thunderstorms, snow likely above 9,000 feet. Highs in the 40s, lows in the mid 20s to mid 30s.
Friday: Mostly cloudy and cool with a chance of showers, mixed with snow. Highs in the 40s, lows overnight in the 30s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy and cool with a chance of light rain and snow showers. Highs in the 40s and 50s, lows in the 30s.

WESTERN SLOPE:
Today: Partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s.
Friday: Partly cloudy and cool with highs 55-60, lows in the 40s. Chance of showers.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.

Your 24/7 Planning Forecast:
As a cold front moves through Colorado, the weather pattern will remain cool and unsettled through Friday. Saturday through Monday will still be a bit on the cool side, especially in the the mountains and over the western valleys. Eastern Colorado will stay drier, with gusty winds at times. Scattered showers may develop on the plains through the weekend, but the rain chances will be only around 20%.

Extended Outlook, 8 to 14 days:
The Climate Prediction Center's forecast for May 26 to June 1 is calling for near-average temperatures and slightly above-average precipitation for Colorado.
