Roger Hill -- Biography
7NEWS Storm Chaser
Roger lives south of Bennett, Colorado in the heart of the high plains where tornadoes and supercells rule. He has been chasing for nearly 20 years. He has seen and videotaped 288 tornadoes in his chasing career. In 2004 Roger and his wife Caryn videoed 53 tornadoes, which is being validated for a Guinness Book World Record! He spends an average of 120 days between March and October chasing, operating tours, and shooting video for various media outlets. He has also been a probe driver for various National Severe Storms Laboratory projects and teaches SKYWARN training at several locations across the plains.He has been contracted by The Weather Channel for the past 10 years to shoot and edit video of everything from tornadoes to floods to blizzards and hailstorms. He has also done much work for The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, National Geographic, The Travel Channel, NOVA, BBC and several more. Roger is co-owner of Silver Lining Storm Chase Tours.
Roger’s wife Caryn is also an acclaimed storm chaser. She drives Van 1 during tours and chases on her own when not on tour. She captured the incredible May 10, 2004 Limon, CO cyclic tornadic supercell and several others. Caryn raises and shows quarter horses in her spare time and hopes to show at Quarter Horse Congress in October and the World Show in November. Roger and Caryn have been married almost 3 years and enjoy spending time with each other chasing, showing horses, on the bowling lanes or just enjoying the outdoors.
