Tropical Storm Gert was a very short-lived storm system, forming over the Bay of Campeche on July 23rd and making a landfall the next day.

Gert moved slowly to the west-northwest and moved onshore near Cabo Rojo with 45 MPH winds.

Locally heavy rains fell over nearly the same area soaked by Hurricane Emily less than a week prior, but no immediate deaths or damage were reported.

The system dissipated over northern Mexico on July 26th.
