Tropical Storm Bret

June 28-29, 2005

POSTED: 1:32 pm MST November 20, 2005
UPDATED: 1:45 am MST November 30, 2005

A weak tropical wave combined with a surface low pressure to form the second tropical depression of the season on June 28th. This area of disturbed weather was about 60 miles northeast of Veracruz, Mexico, over the Bay of Campeche.

The depression quickly developed into Tropical Storm Bret and made a landfall early on June 29th near Tuxpan, Mexico. Maximum sustained winds were near 40 MPH.

Bret diminished over the mountains of Mexico but not before causing flash flooding in the state of Veracruz. A vehicle was reported swept away near the town of Naranjos.
