DENVER, Colo. -- A fast-moving cold front is bringing heavy snow to the high country and colder temperatures statewide.

Next Storm Hits Friday
A fast-moving system will bring six to 12 inches of snow to the mountains by late Friday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern and central mountains. On the Plains, snow amounts should be less than an inch, if snow actually falls, along with gusty winds and colder temperatures. Watch FutureCast to See If/When Snow Arrives.A Good-Looking Weekend
The weekend will be dry and milder again over the state. Highs will only reach the 40s on Saturday, but 50s are expected again Sunday and Monday. The weather will stay fairly tranquil through Tuesday, followed by another chance for snow by the middle of next week.Avalanche Danger in the Mountains
The avalanche danger continues across much of the high country from the recent storms. According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, slides could be triggered easily, and some will be the biggest so far this year.Report a typo or inaccuracy
