The calendar still says summer, but the weather is about to skip autumn and go straight to winter! A strong storm system will swirl into Colorado overnight and will bring much colder weather, along with rain and snow.A snow advisory has been issued for the Yampa Valley, the Park Mountains, Grand Mesa and the Roan and Uncompahgre Plateaus. This storm may bring 5-10 inches of snow to elevations above 9,000 feet in these areas. The colder weather will also affect the Denver area and the northeast plains. Much colder air will swing into the Front Range overnight with rain showers developing after dark and snow in the mountains above 8,500 feet west of Denver. Snowfall amounts will be only a few inches through Tuesday morning, but it will make for a chilly last official day of summer. In Denver, highs will be 30-35 degrees colder on Tuesday, with periods of rain.
The chilly weather will linger through Wednesday, along with a chance for rain, mixed with some snow in the western suburbs.Nighttime temperatures will dip into the low to mid 30s in Denver and vicinity Tuesday night and Wednesday, so plan to cover those plants!By Thursday, warmer and drier weather will return!Want to know when breaking news and weather is happening?
