Cold Weather Sticks Around Through Midweek

DENVER -- Colder weather and snow are back in the forecast for metro Denver and much of the state for the next several days.Snow is forecast to continue through Sunday, before another system brings additional snowfall to the area on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will remain well below normal for much of the week ahead.A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the metro area, the foothills, and central mountains through Sunday evening. The heaviest snowfall is expected over the mountains and the foothills, where 6 to 12 inches of snow is possible. The metro area is expecting 4 to 8 inches by late Sunday, with the heavier snowfall occurring west of Interstate 25. Be prepared for winter driving conditions by Sunday morning, and conditions are not likely to improve much through the day.
The eastern plains of Colorado will likely see lighter accumulations, with 2 to 4 inches of snow by Sunday afternoon.A stronger weather system will develop and move through the region Monday through Tuesday. Snow will be likely in the mountains and southwestern Colorado, with a lesser chance in the metro area. A Blizzard Warning is in effect for southwestern Colorado for Monday and Tuesday. Snow and strong winds will create dangerously difficult travel conditions between Sunday and Tuesday throughout the warning area. One to 3 feet of snow will be possible over southwestern Colorado before the storm moves out of the area.
