DENVER -- As you may know, Denver received a lot of rain in June, reaching 4.86 inches of precipitation. If we had received another tenth of an inch we would have tied the all-time record for June precipitation. Maybe we will break some July records.Well, get used to the June pattern again. Overnight tonight, a cold front is going to make its way through the region, bringing more moisture and a better chance of storms. The chance of storms will persist through the weekend.Thursday, look for temperatures to fall into the low 80s for highs and a good chance of thunderstorms especially after noon. Lows on Thursday night will be in the low 60s with the storms clearing out.
Friday, a chance of storms will be around again as the moisture sticks around. Highs will be in the lower 80s. Lows will be around 60 again with storms clearing out during the night. The Fourth of July looks similar to the past two days with a chance of storms, highs in the low to mid 80s and lows around 60. Sunday still has a chance of storms with highs around 85 and lows in the upper 50s under partly cloudy skies overnight.Typically, July is a very hot month with temperatures often in the 90s. Last year we broke the consecutive 90-degree weather streak with 18 days in a row of 90-degrees or warmer. Yikes!Did you know that July is the stormiest month of the year, with an average of 11 thunderstorms? That means a storm every three days. We may begin that trend on Thursday with a chance of storms all the way through the weekend. Also, just four years ago this month, we set the all-time high temperature record of 105 degrees for Denver. The end of the weekend won't be that warm, but temperatures will rise again close to the 90s by Sunday.Be sure to come on out to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival this weekend to see the 24/7 Weather team and try out the "green screen." The 24/7 Weather Experience will be set up on the corner of East Second Avenue and South Milwaukee Street.--Intern Katie Gauthier contributed to this story. Do you Twitter?
