2004 Summer Quite Active

UPDATED: 5:56 pm MDT August 23, 2004

This summer has been much, much more active than the last three. More storms, more heavy rain and more hail have left us with a mixed summer result. Some fruit/vegetable farmers have lost millions in minutes due to hail, while many suburban homeowners have saved money and time by not having to water trees, shrubs and lawns as much as in recent summers.

This week will present us with a mini-model of this summer, warm (not hot) days followed by a cold front and widespread rainfall at the end of the week. It's a bit too early to tell is the rain on Friday and Saturday will be heavy, but I'll have a better handle on it by the middle of the week.
