DENVER -- Snow and cold is once again in the forecast for Denver and eastern Colorado. Some long-range information is hinting at the possibility of sub-zero temperatures this weekend."It does look like the end of the week will be very cold," said 7news meteorologist Richard Ortner. "We'll be watching this one very carefully."A large area of low pressure parked over southeast Canada will keep the weather unsettled for much of the nation this entire week. Several waves of colder air will rotate around the low pressure and into the central United States.
Bitterly cold air locked over Siberia and the Arctic Circle will move south into the nation by the upcoming weekend. The heart of the cold air will spill into states like Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. But Colorado will sit on the edge of the cold air mass, and depending on how far west the coldest air travels, will determine if we see highs by the weekend in the single digits and teens above zero, or as low as 5 to 10 degrees below zero.In addition to the cold, intervals of snow are also in the forecast this week. We could see light snow and flurries Monday night, Wednesday and again by Friday night. For the most part the snow should be light, but we will keep a close eye on the weather disturbance moving in for the weekend. It does show signs of taking a path that would produce some accumulating snow.It will be a week that you want to stay tuned to 7news and TheDenverChannel.com for the latest forecast information.
