With Months To Go, Denver Within Foot Of Seasonal Snow

DENVER -- The most recent round of snow hasn't been too bad for Denver, the foothills and eastern plains. Most of the moisture has been confined to western Colorado.But the 0.8 inches officially recorded in Denver on Friday was significant because it brought the snow total so far this season to 50 inches -- less than a foot from the seasonal norm of 61.7 inches.The snow season began on Jul. 1, 2006 and will end on Jun. 30, 2007.
Two of Denver's three snowiest months are yet to come, potentially putting this snow season on pace to be a record setter, if not in the top 10 snowiest.7NEWS surveyed viewers in a recent online poll, and 30 percent of participants thought the 2006-2007 snow season would become the all-time snowiest, breaking the previous record of 118.7 inches set in 1908-1909.50 percent said it would not become the all-time snowiest year, but will definitely end up in the top 10.A list of normal monthly snowfall for Denver, and snow received so far this season, follows:July -- 0 inches August -- 0 inches September -- 2.1 inches (no snow measured Sept. 2006) October -- 4.1 inches (9.8 inches measured Oct. 2006) November -- 10.7 inches (4.4 inches measured Nov. 2006) December -- 8.7 inches (29.4 inches measured Dec. 2006) January -- 7.7 inches (6.4 inches measured through Jan. 12, 2007) February -- 6.3 inches March -- 11.7 inches April -- 9.1 inches May -- 1.3 inches June -- TraceSo what do you think -- will it become a new record season for Denver?
