Denver Airport Traffic Passes 4 Million Passengers In May
The number of passengers traveling through Denver International Airport reached surpassed 4.15 million in May as competition grew more aggressive among the top airlines, providing more bargains in ticket prices. DIA officials said Thursday it was the first time passenger traffic was higher than 4 million in May and marked the fourth-busiest month in Denver airport history. The total was up 12.9 percent from 3.7 million in May 2005. It was the 13th consecutive month that the airport has set a monthly traffic record.
"These are extremely high traffic numbers, given the fact that the summer travel season really hadn't begun yet in May," Denver Aviation Manager Turner West said in a statement. Southwest Airlines moved into the Denver market in May, sparking a ticket pricing war. United Airlines and Frontier Airlines since have added flights to their Denver hubs.Click here to visit the DIA Web site..
