Other News: Hall Of Fame Grows; Elton Signs

T.I. Changes Times On New, Free Show

UPDATED: 7:44 a.m. EDT October 27, 2003

Congrats to all of the inductees to the Casino Legends Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held at the Tropicana last week to honor Frankie Valli, Connie Stevens, Jack Carter, Breck Wall, Cook E. Jarr and Bill Acosta. If you have any interest at all in the history of Las Vegas, you absolutely must stop at the Casino Legends Hall of Fame the next time you're in town.

Now it's official. Elton John will perform 75 shows over the next three years at Caesars Palace on the days Celine Dion's show is dark. It'll be one of Elton's grand productions, titled "The Red Piano," and will feature his regular band and -- lots of sequins, presumably -- but it will most likely be more straight-ahead concert than a production show like Celine's "A New Day." The first performances will be February 13-22, with tickets ranging from $100 to $250. Ouch.

Mac King, one of my favorite showmen in Las Vegas, will take his show on the road. At least, he'll take it outside.

On Nov. 12 he'll be in the Carnaval Court just outside Harrah's to perform a stunt that will attempt to create the world's longest "telephone" game. That's the thing where you whisper something to the person next to you and it continues down the chain until the end, where you see how much the original message has changed. But here's the fun part: Mac King says he'll be able to predict what the message will be once it gets to the end of the chain. If you've ever seen his terrific afternoon show at Harrah's, you'll understand why I don't doubt he can do it.

By the time you read this, the new "Sirens at T.I." show will be up and running. That's the new, "sexier" version of the pirate battle in front of Treasure Island. In addition to a complete overhaul, there has also been an overhaul in the schedule. "Sirens at T.I." only plays at 6, 8, and 10 p.m. nightly, but it is still free.

And finally, no major changes to report in the condition of Roy Horn, one half of the famed "Siegfried & Roy" duo, who was mauled by a tiger during a performance of the show Oct. 3. Horn is still in critical condition and is expected to live, but doctors and his spokespeople are being very tight-lipped about how much of a recovery he'll be able to make.
