DENVER -- United Airlines passengers can now checkin at the electronic kiosk at Denver International Airport and instead of getting a paper boarding pass, one will be sent to their cell phone. The cell phone will need to have Internet access to display the pass. It will include a bar code that security screeners and gate attendants will be able to scan.United said the bar codes make it easier to detect fraudulent boarding passes and will help speed passengers through security.
Travelers must still show government-issued ID to TSA screeners to make sure the information on the boarding pass matches the traveler's ID.A spokesman for United said with spring break travel around the corner, United expects this is a good time to try out the program as planes will be full and young people are very comfortable using their smart phones.
