United, Frontier Announcing More Fare Sales

Airlines Slash Fares Up To 70 Percent

POSTED: 11:22 a.m. MST January 6, 2003

Bankrupt United Airlines is going after business travelers.

On Monday morning, the airline announced it's cutting business fares by up to 70 percent.

Coach fares direct from Chicago and Denver are up to 40 percent off, with no advance purchase.

The discounted fares also apply to thousands of cities around the country reached through connecting service.

The discount is good on walk-up fares with no minimum or Saturday stay requirements, However, the sale fares are not refundable.

United said it is offering the new fares because business travelers have made it clear to the airline that they want more affordability, availability, and flexibility.

The airline said business travelers who purchase their fares at least seven days in advance can save as much as 70 percent.

United also plans to scale back food service on many domestic flights beginning Tuesday.
