Driver Dies After Guardrail Punctures Car On C-470

A man died after he crashed into a guardrail on C-470 on Thursday morning.

Video from the scene showed the guardrail punctured the driver's door.

A tow truck had to pull the car away from the guardrail.

The crash happened around 2:40 a.m. on the eastbound side of C-470 at Bowles Avenue.

A 45-year-old man inside the car was flown by medical helicopter to a nearby hospital. He died from his injuries three hours later, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

No other vehicles were involved. No one else was injured, according to Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis.

The crashed closed C-470 at Bowles.The highway started reopening at 5 a.m.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m. Douglas County deputies closed down Westbound C-470 at Quebec Street because of another crash. That area reopened at 5:15 a.m.
