DENVER -- T-REX could take a bite out of your commute this weekend and it started Thursday with the closure of the Quincy Street bridge.
The bridge is being torn down this weekend and that means part of Interstate 25 will be shutting down.
"This is our first daytime demolition so it's going to be a little different for motorists," said T-REX spokeswoman Lori Messa.
On Sunday, I-25 will close at 4 a.m. in both directions from Hampden to Interstate 225. Northbound lanes will reopen at 11 a.m. to help drivers going to the afternoon Rockies game, and the southbound lanes will reopen later at 1 p.m.
Crews are doing the work during the day instead of overnight -- as is typical during the massive T-REX project -- because demolition is expected to be louder than usual.
"It's actually a steel and concrete bridge so we're going to go in and do the noisiest part of the work during the day to kind of minimize the impact to the residents who surround that bridge," Meesa said.
The bridge is being demolished to make room for a widened highway and light rail.
Some area residents said its not the noise that will be the problem.
"It's going to take away our access to Happy Canyon and to Monaco out to Arapahoe Road," one resident said of the removal of the Quincy Bridge.
Others said they'll deal with it, just like they've dealt with all the lane changes and evening closures that have come along with the I-25 project.
"We'll just change our habits a little bit," another resident said.
T-REX officials said the loud demolition-type noise will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday morning.
