Heavy rainstorms caused flooding that closed several roads in the Thornton area Wednesday night.

The worst damage is on Holly Street between Holly Circle and 123rd Avenue. The flooding pushed debris against the cement barrier along the southbound lanes. The northbound lanes were surrounded by cones because part of the road was eroded by the flooding. Crews were concerned about the structural integrity of the road, anticipating the roadway will be closed until late next week.

Flooding also resulted in the closure of 128th Avenue between Quebec Street and Riverdale Road. Road crews inspected the road for damage before it was reopened Thursday morning.

Other roads inspected and reopened include:

Riverdale Road between Yosemite Road and 124th Avenue.

Riverdale Road between McKay and 112th Avenue.
