Wimbledon, England -- (Sports Network) - British hopeful Andy Murray, two-time runner-up Andy Roddick and former champion Lleyton Hewitt highlighted Saturday's third-round winners at The Championships, Wimbledon.

The third-seeded U.S. Open runner-up Murray easily handled 30th-seeded Serb Viktor Troicki 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in the Day-6 nightcap on the famed Centre Court at the All England Club.

Murray cruised in 1 hour, 36 minutes, as he ripped 17 aces among his 37 winners and tallied four service breaks while holding his ever-improving serve throughout.

Up next for Murray will be capable Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka.

Murray has a real shot at becoming the first male British champion here since the great Fred Perry way back in 1936.

The sixth-seeded Roddick snuck past 26th-seeded Austrian lefthander Jurgen Melzer 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 6-3.

Roddick advanced in 2 hours, 53 minutes with the help of 33 aces, including a final one on match point, and two service breaks. The dangerous Melzer fired 26 aces and also recorded a pair of breaks en route to the tough defeat.

Melzer is now 0-9 lifetime against Roddick.

The former U.S. Open champion Roddick is also a former world No. 1 and lost to Roger Federer in back-to-back Wimbledon finals in 2004 and 2005.

Roddick's opponent in the fourth round will be big Czech Tomas Berdych.

An unseeded Hewitt handled German Philipp Petzschner 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. The former world No. 1 Hewitt is a two-time major champion, including a Wimbledon title in 2002.

Up next for Hewitt will be tough Czech Radek Stepanek.

Eighth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon reached the fourth round here for the first time in his career by blitzing 31st-seeded Romanian Victor Hanescu 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.

No less than four top-16 seeds exited the draw on Saturday, as former world No. 1 Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero, unseeded at this fortnight, drove out No. 10 Chilean Fernando Gonzalez 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4; 24th-seeded German Tommy Haas outlasted No. 11 Croat Marin Cilic 7-5, 7-5, 1-6, 6-7 (3-7), 10-8 in a suspended match from Friday; a No. 20 Berdych bounced No. 12 Russian Nikolay Davydenko 6-2, 6-3, 6-2; and a No. 23 Stepanek edged out No. 16 Spaniard David Ferrer 7-5, 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4. The former Aussie Open runner-up Gonzalez was a French Open semifinalist earlier this month.

The former French Open champion Ferrero will take on Simon in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, a 19th-seeded Wawrinka overcame surprising lefthanded American qualifier Jesse Levine 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 and 29th-seeded Russian Igor Andreev snuck past Italian Andreas Seppi 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (7-5). Andreev will face the former world No. 2 Haas in the fourth round.

It was overcast in the latter stages of the day with a few rain drops falling on Saturday. A rain delay looked like a real possibility, but play was never stopped and Week 1 wound up going in the books without a single weather stoppage. A new retractable roof has been installed on the venerable Centre Court, but the translucent structure has yet to be used for an official match.

Sunday will be a day off for the players, as the middle Sunday is the traditional off day at Wimbledon. Play will resume with fourth-round action on Monday at the AEC, as all the remaining men in the draw will take to the courts.

Monday's other fourth-rounders will pit a second-seeded former world No. 1 Federer against 13th-seeded Swede Robin Soderling, fourth-seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic versus Israeli Dudi Sela and seventh-seeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco against 22nd-seeded 6-foot-10 Croat Ivo Karlovic. Federer beat Soderling in the French Open final three weeks ago, marking the super Swiss' record-tying 14th major title. Federer also became the sixth man in history to complete a career Grand Slam.

The reigning French Open and U.S. Open titlist Federer is a five-time Wimbledon champ who lost to his great rival Rafael Nadal in last year's epic finale here.
