Tech Experts Anticipate New Year's Virus

Computer Virus Could Send Millions Of E-Mails

UPDATED: 7:39 am MST December 28, 2005

Technology experts are warning about a computer virus set to worm its away around the Internet by the New Year.

Experts said the sober worm, which has been around for years, is set to hit Jan. 5 with a new strain. That date would coincide with the 87th anniversary of the founding of Germany's Nazi party.

Some experts believe it has potential to disrupt Internet traffic. The virus has already been detected on thousands of machines and is expected to send millions of e-mail messages filled with pro-Nazi propaganda.

According to recent reports, all major anti-virus programs can protect your machine against this, but because so many people fail to keep their computers inoculated, Internet security firms are bracing for what could be a serious online problem.

Experts warn computer users to ensure they have anti-virus software installed and updated regularly.
