WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A New York high school basketball player stunned the crowd with a 60-foot buzzer-beater that won his team the championship, and a YouTube video of the shot has gone viral.
Khalil Edney of New Rochelle High School in New Rochelle, N.Y. made a 60-foot shot at the buzzer, lifting the basketball team to a 61-60 win over Mount Vernon High School the Section 1 Class AA Boys Basketball Championship game Sunday, according to the Mount Vernon Daily Voice.
After the senior forward of the New Rochelle Huguenots basketball team stole a pass at the last moment and scored, New Rochelle fans stormed the court and began celebrating—before officials had ruled whether Edney shot before the buzzer. Officials ruled the shot valid after a brief huddle.
