Retired Denver Broncos' running back Terrell Davis is excited for Saturday's announcement of the next NFL Hall of Fame class.

Davis is one of three former Broncos nominated for the honor this year. Davis was named a finalist last month.

This is Davis' third time being nominated, and many believe this is his best chance.

No one disputes how valuable he was to the Broncos during his career, but some apparently feel he didn't play long enough.

Davis is just excited about the possibility.

"I'm excited about the possibility of it happening," Davis said. "But I also have to be prepared for if it doesn't happen."

Davis said he'll be disappointed if he isn't named to the Hall of Fame.

"But until they tell me no, right now I am still in this race, so I'll stay excited until Saturday," Davis said.

The other two Broncos on the finalists' list are safety Steve Atwater and safety John Lynch.

The other 12 finalists are Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, Terrell Owens, Alan Faneca, Morten Andersen, Coach Don Coryell, Coach Tony Dungy, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Joe Jacoby, Edgerrin James and Orlando Pace.

No more than five modern-era finalists can be elected in a given year.

To be elected, a finalist must receive a minimum positive vote of 80 percent during the annual selection meeting. That meeting is Saturday in San Francisco.

The Hall of Fame announcement will come Saturday afternoon.
