DENVER - Every Rockies fan with a ticket to a game this year will have access to the brand-new party deck above right field: the Rooftop.
Crews pulled out 3,500 seats during the off season to make room for this $11 million upgrade, offering a new spot in the stadium for fans to gather, grab a bite to eat, socialize and enjoy a beverage, at one mile elevation. The renovations for this space have been in the works for a long time, said Dick Monfort, the Rockies' owner, and the 2014 opening day is a perfect time to unveil the upgrade.
7NEWS' Arran Andersen says it's the largest party deck in sports, with 38,000 square feet for fans to hang out on. We hear there are firepits, cabanas and a new margarita-themed bar on the mezzanine.
Rooftop tickets start at $14, which includes $6 worth of concession or merchandise credit. Rooftop tickets do not include assigned seats to watch the game, but fans can sit in sections U310-U314 on a first-come, first-served basis through May. After May, those seat options may change since the park upgrades are so new and management is still finalizing all the details.
