DENVER - The Denver Nuggets selected 7'2" center Rudy Gobert of France with the 27th overall selection in the first round of the N.B.A. draft. Gobert wasn't a Nugget for long. Denver turned around and traded Gobert to the Utah Jazz for cash and the 46th pick in the draft.
The Nuggets had planned to trade the first round pick to avoid paying a first-round contract to a player who they don't believe would have an immediate impact.
Then the Nuggets drafted NCAA scoring leader Erick Green from Virginia Tech with the 46th pick in the second round. Green averaged 25 points a game with the Hokies.
The Nuggets also traded center Kosta Koufos to the Memphis Grizzlies for Darrell Arthur and the 55th pick in the draft. Nuggets took forward Joffrey Lauvernge from France with that pick in round 2.
